In collaboration with our partners at NWI Group, NWI Fabrication spearheaded the design, engineering, and development of a bespoke platform scale tailored to the needs of Menzies Aviation.

The primary objective of the project was to create a highly efficient and accurate weighing solution for Menzies’ baggage carts. This customised platform scale was specifically engineered to meet the demanding requirements of aviation ground support, offering a portable yet robust solution capable of withstanding significant operational stress.

Key considerations during the design process included ensuring the scale’s portability while maintaining durability and performance under heavy loads. The ramps and structure were meticulously designed to withstand the force of up to 10 tonnes without the need for securing the system to the ground. This made the solution both mobile and resilient, allowing Menzies Aviation to deploy it as needed across various workstations.

The implementation of this customised platform scale delivered numerous benefits to Menzies Aviation. Foremost, the solution significantly improved the speed and accuracy of weighing baggage carts, a crucial aspect of airport ground operations.
